Minutes of the OVH Meeting

Oct. 20, 2003

The meeting was called to order by President Ruth Frock at 2000 Eastern time.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, all present stated their names and callsigns There were 27 members and two guests present.

We had two guests speakers.

Our first guest speaker was Lee Love, N2LEE. Lee gave us a very interesting presentation on EchoLink. The website is www.echolink.org. You can download the software from that website. Thank you Lee for your excellent discussion of EchoLink. Lee can be contacted at Lee@N2Lee.com.

Our second guest speaker was Frank Genchis, K0BRA. Frank gave us a discussion on Broadband over Powerlines (BPL). As we know, BPL is a very relevant topic for amateur radio and other forms of communication that utilize the 2 to 80 Mhz spectrum. Manassas is one of the test sights in the United States for BPL.

Thank you Lee and Frank to taking time to visit the Ole’ Virginia Hams and present very interesting and useful information.

The Marine Corps marathon is this Sunday morning.

We need some more people for the "hospital team." Send David an E-mail if you can volunteer. There may be a drill at the hospital.

There will be some leadership changes in ARES, and David will have information on this as it arrives.
