PRESIDENTS LETTER: I hope that everyone is surviving the summer heat… Well, we have gone through another successful Field Day. At least the weather cooperated with us this year. I am looking forward to hear all of the scores. I want to thank all who took part in this fun event, it was great to see the folks who only make it to a couple of events a year. As a surprise, Terry (WA5NTI) made an appearance, even though it was a short one, it was good to see him. As always, hats off to Phil, with another awesome spread of delicious food!! PRESIDENTS LETTER: Now that the 43rd Annual Hamfest is in the books, time to start planning for next year. First though, I would like to commend Terry (KC4DV) and the committee on another great hamfest.  As you may know, Terry has decided to pass the baton over to Don WA2SWX for next year.  I am sure that the OVH can do attitude will continue. Due to the fairgrounds modifying their policy on vehicles in the building, OVH had to change the way vendors set up. For the first time,  OVH assisted with the unloading and loading of vehicles. PRESIDENT’S LETTER: Hello to all and I hope this message finds you all healthy and well. It has been a roller-coaster for weather so far.  Now it is time to get active and prepare for an exciting and prosperous year. Let the OVH activities begin!! First of all, the May 15th meeting will be the last one at the Manassas City Public Works Building for about a year.  They will be using the space to do computer training for some of the city employees. We are hoping to be back as it is a great place to hold meetings. Also on the down side, OVH did not take part in the 2017 Manassas Air Show. PRESIDENT’S LETTER: Well it appears that spring has finally sprung. The season started off with the first Mini-Tri of the year, and the turnout was good. Thank you to all of the volunteers and to Andy (KJ4MTP) for the planning. Our next event is the 2017 Manassas Air Show on Saturday, May 6th (rain-out day: May 7th). This will be our second appearance as an exhibitor at the Manassas Regional Airport. If the air show this year is anything like in past years, it will have about 20,000 visitors and should offer a fun time for the whole family to take in the aerobatic performances, aircraft displays, and the numerous informational booths of various Manassas organizations. PRESIDENT’S LETTER: Let me first say as your new President, that I am honored and privileged to be a member of the Ole Virginia Hams and I look forward to serving OVH this upcoming year. I do want to thank Wayne / N7QLK for handling the reigns for the past two years; I trust Wayne will remain available to assist as needed as I transition into his former position. I have big shoes to fill and it will take some time to grow into them. I have some ideas that I would like develop, and continue with events that we have participated in the past year. This year, the OVH will continue to provide communications support for the Manassas Mini-Tri race program. The Richmond Frostfest has come and gone, and a thank you is owed to Terry / KC4DV for arranging a table, along with Ray / KM4EKR, Sandy / KM4JUS, and Theresa / KG4TVM for supporting. Up next, the Vienna Wireless Winterfest on March 19th in Annandale. It’s close by and easy to attend. Another “What Now?” session led by Mark / WA4KFZ was held on Monday of this week, with good interest in antenna building. Last year ended on a high note, with a few new licensees and a warm holiday party; what more could we ask for?
