OVH’s annual OVH / ARRL Field Day
Nokesville Park 12560 Aden Rd, Nokesville, VA, United StatesSaturday / Sunday - June 24 / 25, 2017. OVH’s annual OVH / ARRL Field Day to be held event at the Pavilion at the Nokeville Park. This is a major club combined operating and social event; all members should plan to attend at least some of the time. Excellent food will be provided, there will be an educational program and everyone (including non-ham) will have an opportunity to make radio contacts on the HF bands (using several different operating modes) with other Field Day stations located all over the USA and Canada. W4OVH Eclipsepedition 2017
Operating Location 104 Duffie Dr, Lexington, SC, United StatesI am mounting an Eclipsepedition August 21 to Lexington SC. Special Event Call Sign W4E has been requested. The center of Solar Eclipse Totality passes directly over Lexington. Â Eclipse QSO Party, HF Operation will be from a Public Parks or School. Planned Operation is from 11:00am to 4;06 EDST, details to follow. Â Checking Travel Velocity, I found a Limited number of budget Hotels in the Columbia Lexington area. Aiken SC currently has the best availability of Business Class rooms and Suites. I booked a room at the Aiken Hampton Inn for $84. Â Aiken is only 45 miles from the Eclipse Totality Center. W4OVH Online Technician Class License Preparation Course
Online Technician Class License Prep CourseIts 2018 and the Ole Virginia Hams want to help you start the New Year off right by helping you join an exiting hobby and technology venue by helping you both learn and test for your own Amateur Radio Technician Class License. The W4OVH club will continue our offering of free Technician Class license preparation courses starting on January 29th at 7PM. There will be a total of 8 weekly sessions of 1 hour each. This year we are introducing new innovations to the course delivery. The course will be conducted by video teleconference so that you have the convenience of attending from your computer at home. Field Day is a picnic, a campout, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, FUN! It is a time where many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight our many roles. While some will treat it as a contest, other groups use the opportunity to practice their emergency response capabilities.
