Hello All,
I’d like to start with “reflected glory”.
Once again, our Vice President, Gil, KM4OZH, has brought home the glory of Second Place Nationally in September’s UHF/VHF contest. Gil competes in the “Limited Rover” category, and achieved his highest raw score ever – 14,960.
Gil has been licensed a relatively short time, compared to some of our more “seasoned” members, and he took to serious contesting early in his ham career. His tenacity and resilience and yes, his creativity (have you even seen his car?) have served him well in his contesting, which shines a positive light on the OVH, as well.
Way to go, Gil!

Next up, a big thank you to the ham volunteers in Florida & the Southeast, who are working hand in hand with FEMA after back to back hurricanes, Helene and Milton. Some of you might remember I am from the Tampa / St. Pete area. You might also go back and reread the “ARRL Letter of October 3rd, 2024”. Specifically, the “Ham Radio Serving Southeast US Recovery Efforts” article.
You don’t have to wait until our next monthly meeting to see everyone again. Our monthly breakfast is this Saturday, October 12th at 8:00 AM. Pioneered by Byron, AK4XR, we get together every Saturday before our meetings at a table or two in the back of Yorkshire Restaurant for some good food and good conversation.

This will be one educational talk, so be sure to come on out.
A reminder that the 78th Greater Manassas Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 7th @ 10 AM. Planning is underway, but we will need volunteer spotters. If interested and available, please contact George, K4GVT via e-mail george@k4gvt.com
